Advance Minerals makes color selection both fun and foolproof! Two beautiful color pallets are available with pre-selected tones that will give you some great combos for your daily routine. You can also start with an empty compact and customize to your hearts content. The lipsticks and lip glosses are gorgeous and give you endless combinations to enjoy. This is one of the most comfortable and lasting lipcolors I have worn.
One of my favorite and most versatile products in this line is the highlight cream. There is one in each compact and a 3rd available to order separately. This can be used as a traditional highlighter to add a soft glow to the high points on the face but it can also be used as a cream shadow on the eyes, or as a lip highlighter. The 3 color options are stunning.
It all started with a weekend girls trip.... It was our first ever Skin and Body convention held in Chicago. 4 excited Aesthetic students, one rental car and what seemed like millions of vendors all selling their wares. It was totally overwhelming and exhilarating at the same time. We wandered the aisles looking for products and treatments that would potentially benefit our future clients.
I walked past the Advanced Minerals booth and then turned back and did a double take. This was a makeup line used on the Sets of Grey's Anatomy and NCIS. They had my attention. Aesthetician and TV, Film Makeup Artist Annie Mayo had worked with many wonderful brands of makeup but she "always felt that there was room for improvement in women's makeup". She created this line with minerals and ingredients that are "skin loving" and free of damaging chemicals and preservatives. As a skin care professional I can truly get behind makeup that heals and nourishes the skin!
This company fits right in with my Small Business friendly goal. Any question that I have is answered swiftly and sweetly by Annie herself. She has been a pleasure to work with!
The product line is streamlined and for a new Aesthetician that was very important. My studio space is limited but offering a great cosmetic line was a high priority for me. Many of the products are multipurpose which saves me space and my clients money. The foundations are safe and healthy. I have no problem applying them immediately after a skin care treatment. The colors are glorious and I can't wait to show them off to you in future blogs!

Shake up your Makeup Workshop scheduled Thursday March 30 at 6pm.
It may have been a gloomy KY day outside, but the dressing rooms at The Polo Barn were filled with all things bright and beautiful. Our team arrived bright and early to start the makeup on Moms and Bridesmaids. We sat by the window for the best lighting all the while wishing and praying the rain away. Jenny chose airbrush makeup for her gang which is perfect to withstand KY summer humidity. Neutral colors enhanced the girls Lilac dresses. Jenny's eyes were adorned with Mary Kay's Sandstone collection. The pink undertones in this palette served to show off her green eyes perfectly and the contrast from the lightest color to the darkest used in the outside corner created the drama she was looking for. What a pleasure it was to see a social media post with Jenny and Chris standing in the sunshine surrounded by friends and family. The clouds had parted for their vows- the perfect start to a very blessed marriage. Thank you Jenny for letting us take part in this amazing day!

Abigail's Campbell House Wedding was adorned with Silver, gray and yellow accents. Her request for makeup was to be Natural and Radiant. Her daily makeup routine was fairly conservative so we decided to be true to her style and keep her wedding look simple, classic and elegant with balanced emphasis on her best features.
For her eye makeup we chose a rich bronze cream base and followed with MAC's Woodwinked for a gorgeous metallic shimmer. We added MAC's Mythology to the outer corner for interest and intensity. MAC airbrush was used for a flawless, lightweight all day perfect finish. MAC Pinch-me blush added the final touch of glow to her cheeks. She used her own favorite lip color and we gave her an MK gloss in Fancy Nancy for some added shine and touch ups.
During our initial consultation Eryn described in elaborate detail the vision for her wedding day as I hung onto every word. Flowers and accent colors in African Violet purple, Ink blue, and Fushia pink. A 1950's inspired dress with traditional lace veil and a rhinestone headband. African themed, colorful and joyous. All of this, the perfect fit for the vibrant, bubbly and energetic Bride-to-be sitting across the table from me at Joseph Beth Bookstore.
For her makeup we chose a peachy gold shimmer eye using MAC Mythology as our lid color. We enhanced this with MK Black Ice in the outside corner to add lift and interest to the eye area. Her lips were soft with Coral Bliss and her perfect skin only needed a sheer coat of Airbrush Foundation to be camera ready.
I am so excited to share these dreamy pictures of Meredith and Steve's November wedding!
A crisp breezy day, gorgeous ivory beaded ballgown, neutral palette of gray and navy spiced up with vibrant fall colors and the perfect pop of lip color ....these are a few of my favorite things!
If you look closely you can see the combo of MAC Satin taupe and MK City Sophisticate Silver adorning Hannah's pretty blue eyes. The undertone of brown in the taupe pops that blue but stays true to her choice of a soft silver metallic eye ( yes, I actually think about these things all of the time)
Her lip color may just be my favorite combo of all times. We started with Chanel's Rose gloss which is beautiful, but also stays put all day. We lined with MACs Absolutely It lip pencil and finished with Mary Kay's Spice N Nice. The result a beautiful long wearing warm red lip- a perfect compliment to the amazing floral designs by Stems and just what Hannah requested. She wanted it to Pop in pictures but still look natural.
I met with Sandi many months before her September wedding for a consultation. We had a blast getting to know one another and before we know it and hour had flown by and it felt as if we were old friends. Because we got such an early start I had the pleasure and privilege of getting her made up for her engagement photo session as well as her wedding. There are so many benefits to this added session I don't even know where to begin. In addition to getting to know each other even better it seems that each time I work with someone I learn more about their skin, how it responds to products and I most certainly I gain valuable insight into my Brides makeup preferences.
By the time I had arrived in her Mom's kitchen for wedding day prep we had worked together for both the engagement session and a trial run design appointment. This made the day fun and relaxed for everyone. The details of Sandi's wedding came together so beautifully and it was such an honor to play a small role with he makeup design!
So here is where it gets crazy exciting for me! Fast forward just over a year...Sandi and Andy are expecting their first little one- baby Grace! Can I just tell you that taking her from engagement through wedding and now taking part in their maternity pictures is a dream come true for this MUA? Totally!! Loving this little family and very anxious to meet their sweet baby girl. Mommy, newborn pictures soon to follow!!
Once upon a time.....
Dreamy is in the Details
What an honor it was to work with this Stunning Bride and her lovely Bridal Party. Castlepost in Versailles, KY provided the gorgeous backdrop for these photos as well as the most regal space for this couple and their families to celebrate their nuptials.
Sarah chose a deep red lip color created with a dark red pencil and Sizzling Red Lipstick by Mary Kay as the focal point of her look. To make sure this pop of color didn't fade throughout the day we based it with Channel's long wearing lip stain in Red. To pop Sarah's beautiful deep set eyes we used shades of gold. A custom mix of MAC airbrush foundation enhanced our Brides beautiful complexion.
Thank you Sarah for allowing us to play a role in your special day!!

What an honor it was to work with this team of talented and passionate professionals to pull together this Styled Bridal Shoot. A cabin in the back woods of KY on a crisp Fall day provided a lovely backdrop for our chosen theme.
For the first look I chose a soft pink smokey eye with the emphasis on the lips in a gorgeous deep berry. Brandy's skin is typically oily but because I knew I would be there for touch ups and because it was a cold dry day I took the risk and used MK Luminous foundation. This formula has such a beautiful rich, dewy finish. It held up throughout the shoot with minimal touch up required. Ainslie rocked Brandy's long thick hair with this gorgeous curled updo enhanced with babies breath. Breathtaking if I must say so myself.
Want a fun behind the scenes tidbit? Its always fun to put something personal into these shoots. The ring you see in the above images is mine that has now been passed onto my stylist daughter Lauren. This was a prize that I won when working as a Sales Director in Mary Kay and it is a coveted treasure. I think Brandy wore it well!
For our second look the dress was much more modern, especially with the addition of the beaded jacket draped over her shoulders. The color scheme stayed the same but the style change gave us the opportunity to move from traditional to trendy with hair and makeup. We amped up her eye makeup into a deeper burgundy smoked out wing and took the lips towards nude. With her hair down those beautiful curls provided softness and frame.
