I met with Amanda during the summer to talk to her about wedding makeup. We hit it off right away and began planning our strategy for her October Wedding. Even though her special day was well into Fall, Florida weather can be unpredictable at that time of year and anticipating heat and humidity seemed a prudent part of our plan. Amanda warned me that she was lucky to keep her makeup in place for 3-4 hrs before it started melting off.
My initial research led me to Urban Decay’s All Nighter. I immediately made the trip to Sephora to purchase and test the product. A friend of mine was using it and recommended applying it both before and after makeup. Amanda’s trial run was on a typical hot humid day. She arrive at my studio at 9am and we had a blast getting her glammed up for her wedding shower/luncheon. 2 or 3 spritzes of the All Nighter, along with careful moisturizing and priming, set her makeup in place for the day and night. Amanda looked and felt gorgeous not only for her luncheon but her makeup lasted through the night for her bachelorette party.Success!
Since that time I have added Urban Decay’s De Slick to my collection to control the oiliest of completions and also Makeup Finishing Spray from Mary Kay.All 3 products are made by Skindinavia for the respective companies. 4 oz of Urban Decay retails for $29, 2 oz of Mary Kay retails for $18. Although the MK is more per ounce, I prefer the smaller bottle for both my makeup kit and my personal makeup bag. A little goes a long way so they last forever.
The product does contain alcohol so I wouldn’t recommend it for someone with dry or normal skin for every day use, but certainly have used it successfully on many clients with all types of skin for special occasion makeup.
